Denim Skirt Re-purposing

This past weekend I was again inspired by Disney at Ruffles and Stuff and I just had to do some re-purposing on some of Libby's clothes that had gotten to short. This denim skirt always rode up while Miss Priss would wear it and it would end up leaving her looking very immodest, so I decided it needed a change. I took the skirt and added a black and white polka dotted ruffle trim and then a fabric flower for some extra cuteness. The shirt was a long sleeved shirt from last winter. I cut it down to short sleeves and just added a ruffle of the same polka dotted material. Overall I am so pleased with how this tunred out and I was excited I finished Saturday night so she could wear it to church on Sunday. She was so happy to have something new and fancy for church! I love having a girly girl :>

Tomorrow (Monday) is Kelsie's actually birthday, but on Saturday we got to celebrate my niece turning one. We all got together and had a yummy BBQ. The kids played freeze dance and got to play on Holly & Justin's swing set and playhouse outside. The kids had a blasts! It was so fun being together as a family celebrating this wonderful little girls birthday. Kelsie is such a sweet little baby girl and has brought so much joy into our family. I'm thankful for a niece like her and feel very blessed to be her aunt :>

Splashes and Giggles

Last Friday was quite a busy, but joyful day. In the morning my sister and nephew came over to swim with Keagan and Libby in the play pool. Our backyard was full of splashing and giggles. I just can't enough of that in the summer (I know technically it is not summer yet, but I can't wait I love summer with my kiddos). Then Lilly (a sweet baby girl I now babysit) and my other nephew Carter came over to join in the fun. It was so fun to see the four big kids entertaining little Lilly as she learned to splash and play in the water. We had a quick break for grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch and then  back out to play.

Once the kids had hit their fun limit outside we moved the play indoors for a yummy muffin tin snack and an afternoon of watching Garfield- A Tail of Two Kitties.

By the end of the day I was tired, but it is fun days like these that remind me how blessed I am to be a Mom and Aunt :>

A Little Ballerina

About a month or so we signed Libby up for a ballet/tap class at our local recreation center. She loved every minute of her ballet and tap class. She loved putting on her little ballet outfits and leg warmers and dancing her little heart out. I am so thankful for this sweet little girl and the joy I have to be able to see her explore and grow each day. Watching her in her ballet class gave me a little glimpse of how my mother must have felt years ago watching me in a ballet class for the first time, when  I was 3. It is just pure enjoyment watching your little one learn to be graceful and coordinated. Miss Priss can't wait to start up another session this summer of dance class. Below are just some pictures of her in class. She is our little Pinkerella :>

At the end of each class they got to do a solo and share with the class what their favorite dance step was for the day.

Ruffly Shirt Refashion

Lately I have been sewing like crazy. I just seem to have stumbled upon a few amazing blogs that have so many cute ideas on how to repurpose clothes, which is such a favorite hobby of mine. There is just something very satisfying when you see how you took something that was probably on its way out of your closet because it was lacking a certain cuteness and just with a little extra TLC and your sewing machine you can make a boring old shirt look super cute again. Below is a picture of a Ruffly shirt I refashioned recently. I was inspired by Disney over at Ruffles and Stuff. I just used an old long sleeved shirt that was in my pile of things that I thought were not so cute anymore. It was so simple and Disney had great instructions. Hope you all will be inspired to be a little crafty this coming week and I will try to share more on what crafts I am doing.

Library Book List

Do any of you mom's out there sometimes find it hard to find good books at the library? I mean they can't be TOO long (at least not with my children or they loose interest) and they have to have great pictures to keep their attention. Because of this I am always searching for new, fun books I can read to my kiddos. I decided to list a few each week that my children and I have enjoyed reading recently and hopefully in return your family will enjoy jumping in to a book as well. My first book list actually came on the back of a bookmark my son got at preschool. It is a recommended book list for Kindergartners going to school. This one is seriously such a sweet read. It is about a little boy who gets into mischief and gets told "No" a lot but the books ends with a hug and kiss from mommy. Perfect for anyone with a high energy little boy. My bubba loved this one.

Remember you can go online and request books at your local library. You just need to know your library card and pin number (the pin number they can set up for you in the library). This is so worth it. Each week I have books waiting for me at the library. Takes the time out of searching for authors and titles when I am in a pinch for time.
