This was I think our last Pool play date. We did this 2 weeks ago. I know it is still in the semi 3 digits, but I am hoping that if I stop the pool all together then maybe nature will realize that the Wagasky family is ready and waiting for Fall. I hope it works :)

Ben-10 Party for Carter

In the beginning of September my nephew Carter turned 4. He had a Ben-10 themed party. It was so fun celebrating his birthday with him. We love you Carter and all the silly things you do and say. You always keep it interesting and you always make me laugh. We love you!!

Here are two fun things my nephew carter has said to me that I definitely never want to forget:

"Oh baby" --> he said this to me at the pool or it might have been the mall. He just came up looked me up and down and said it. Hillarious coming form a 2 year old at the time.

"I'm going to marry Jasmine"--> Yes that would be Jasmine from Aladdin. He is quite positive someday they will wed. He even gets a little red faced when talking about it. I love hearing about all his antics of how he will take Jasmine away from Aladdin :>

And again Carter you always make me smile. We love you little man!

Deceptively Delicious: Avocado Spread

1 cup of avocado puree
1/2 cup nonfat plain yogurt
1 tbl low-fat mayo
1 tbl lemon or lime juice
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp of garlic powder

This turned out to be a yummy variation of guacamole. We had it on quesidillas for lunch and used it as a veggie dip for red bell peppers. My kids very much hate avocados, but they approved of this dip and I have pictures to prove it :>

To end I just wanted to share my favorite kitchen gadget I have been using lately. It is a quesadilla maker. I love it! I can make lunch in a snap with this and it easily cleans up! Anyways have a wonderful day!

The many faces of a three year old...

The pictures tell it all. She is a bundle of energy, sass, and emotion. Here are some of our favorite things she says:

"This is ridiculous!" --  (as she crosses her arms over her chest and pouts)

"I didn't know" -- Her answer anytime she does something she knows she shouldn't do

"Will you make me a dress for tomorrow"--> She thinks I am like a fairy and can just whip up homemade goodness every night.

"I tricked you!!" as she laughs in a high pitched voice

Deceptively Delicious: Applesauce Muffins

 For Christmas last year I received this cookbook from my mother. It is written by Jessica Seinfeild. Deceptively Delicious a book of recipes where we can add extra veggies to things we eat everyday and not even noticed that a serving of vegetables has been added. Their are recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even dessert. There is a recipe for brownies with spinach, which I am oh so eager to try. I have wanted to make something from this book all year, but have never gotten around to actually making some vegetable puree to put in the recipes. Well man I was being lazy because it is so simple. Before I went to Zumba this morning I filled my crock pot with a bag of fresh carrots. I let it cook until I got home (around 2pm) The carrots were soft and ready for me to put them through my quick chop. I was able to get 3 bags of carrot puree for the freezer and another for the muffin recipe below. I am now planning on making some more purees tonight so I have some ready in the freezer for quick thawing whenever I am ready to try something new from this book. I have decided to post the different things I try and maybe some of you will want to try them out. I am digging the fact of adding even more veggies and fruits into my families diet. I want us to be healthy and this will help us out a little. My kids are pretty good at eating their fruits and veggies, but you can never have to many right?

Anyways this week in school we are doing apples, which is why I chose a Applesauce muffin recipe. Keagan helped me do half and then lost interest (as he usually does when cooking is involved). He was the first to try them out though and he loved them. The kids and I had 3 each. Jason said they were a little to healthy for his taste buds :> I guess I can't win them all over on the first try, but I am bound to find something healthy my hubby loves. It is my mission :> Anyways enjoy the recipe below and hope you are all having a fabulous week!

2/3 cup old-fashioned oats
1/4 cup firmly pack light or dark brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tbl butter or margarine

1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
1 cup old-fashioned oats
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup sweetened applesauce
1/2 cup low fat milk (We used 2%)
1/2 cup of butternut squash or carrot puree (I used carrot puree)
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 large egg

1. Preheat over to 400 degrees. Coat a 12-cup muffin tin with cooking spray or use muffin baking cups.

2. To make the topping stir together the oats, sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl. Stir in butter. Set aside.

3. To make batter, combine the flour, oats, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl and stir. In a second bowl, mix the applesauce with the milk, vegetable puree, sugar, oil, and egg with a wooden spoon. Add the flour mixture, slowly stirring until moistened. The batter should be lumpy. Do not over mix.

4. Divide batter evenly between muffin cups and sprinkle with streusle topping. Bake until topping is lightly browned and a toothpick comes out clean. About 18-20 minutes. Turn the muffins out onto a rack and allow to cool completely. Store in an airtight container.

A Morning at the Park...

 On Monday I was inspired while getting ready for the day. I was thinking about all the kids and I would do with school that day and it suddenly hit me that we should venture to a nearby park. We packed snacks, our books, worksheets, and ventured off to the park. We laid out a blanket and shared some snacks while reading our books for the week. It was so peaceful learning in the quiet of the day. The park only had a few people there jogging or walking dogs. It was quite peaceful. I am thankful for the inspirations that God sends my way each day. I am thankful for the morning I was able to spend with my littles. A Monday that is traditional Manic turned out to be quite wonderful. It reminded me of a quote I found on a friends blog. "Life doesn't have to be perfect to be perfectly wonderful!" Things are sometimes crazy and hectic in our home, but I wouldn't want it any other way. I love my life and everyday I get to be with my family. I pray we can each enjoy our littles this day and embrace the sweet moments God sends our way. Happy Monday & Enjoy the pics.

Family Home Evening: Game Night

Family Home Evening last week did not go as planned. Things got kind of crazy and I wasn't able to get a lesson pulled together, so we decided to do a game night. We played the game Caraboo It is such a fun game to play with your kids.
For dessert we had these cookies.

Overall it ended up being a fun night. Sorry I don't have any pictures of us actually playing the game, but I guess I got distracted once we started playing. Anyways I am thankful for our family nights and the memories we make during them. What do you do for family night?

My New Love...

I am totally nerding it up, as my husband would say, right now. I have found a new love in the past two months, and I want to share. It is:
zumba fitness Pictures, Images and Photos
Zumba is the most fun I have had working out ever! It is really just a time when you get to dance and have fun..Oh and of course sweat the pounds away. I feel like Zumba is a workout that doesn't really focus on losing weight. But loving the body you have and owning it. Being able to move and have fun is what Zumba is about. The inches that melt away are just a bonus. I have been doing it for about 2 months and I have lost about 7 pounds so far. I haven't really changed my eating habits dramatically. I am just trying to add more fruits and veggies and I have begun taking a multi vitamin. I am still in my same size pants, but I feel like they fit more comfortably. The biggest thing I have noticed is I feel like everything is firming up. My stamina is greater. When I first started Zumba I thought I was going to die because I was so out of breath, but now I can keep up and have become addicted to this awesome workout. If you get a chance to try it please do...I promise you will totally become addicted :> Most 24 fitness centers offer classes.

If you want to try out a class and you live in the Las Vegas area. I take some free classes during the week through church. Let me know if you want to come and try it out. You won't be sorry :>
