Last week we read Escape North! The Story of Harriet Tubman (Step-Into-Reading, Step 3)
. This book I broke up into chapters and read it over the course of a few days. I thought it would take us a week to get through it, but on day 3 they got really into the book and wanted to finish the rest. I was so excited that they got into the story. I have included a breakdown of what we did each day (I just combined day 3 & 4).
Day 1 --> Chapter 1 & 2
We talked about what the underground railroad was and its purpose.
We did this coloring page of Harriet Tubman.
Day 2 --> Chapter 3 & 4
We talked about the North Star and practiced drawing stars, writing our capital and lower case S and wrote the word "Star".
Day 3 --> Chapter 5 & 6
We talked about the different "stations" on the underground rail road and I made them a letter that they could decode. They really enjoyed this one.
Day 4 --> Chapter 7 & 8
We talked about Abraham Lincoln and what he did to end slavery. We also did this coloring page of Abraham Lincoln
Have a Blessed Day!
