Homeschool: Post-it Sentence Building

So I have noticed that in the past few months I have not shared very much about what we are doing with school. This kinda made me a bit sad. I love homeschooling and love to share about what we do as well. Hopefully I can be a bit better at the sharing part. For our curriculum we use Connections Academy.
All our curriculum is sent to us free and I am able to add what things I would like to the curriculum.
I love homeschooling and would never have any other way. Teaching these little read heads is one of the most rewarding things I do each day. It is also THE HARDEST.

Seriously no joke:)

I try to make learning fun, whenever I can. My kids love games, so I try to incorporate this into school.
Ya know get them learning without knowing their learning. Yep I am sneaky like that.

I picked up two sets of post-its at Wal-Mart.
In blue and pink.

Guess who got which color.....

Yep blue for Keagan, Pink for Libby

I wrote out a sentence in each color. Each word of the sentence went on a post it note.

I then placed the post-it notes throughout our kitchen and laundry room.

The kids then went on a hunt for words.

excuse the jammie jams
sometimes we do school in pjs:)

Having their own colors helped them know which ones were theirs.

once they collected their words
they identified which ones were nouns, verbs, and adjectives

I made Keagan's sentence longer with more nouns.

Then they made their sentences.

This is a great activity for kindergardeners and first graders.
It is helping them learn sentence structure and learning more about parts of speech.
Plus they had fun doing this and forgot they were even doing school, which is what I love.
Learning should be fun!

Hope you are having fun with your littles today. What have you guys been working on?
I love ideas! Lets share and inspire. Leave me a comment and let me know what you do to help your littles learn. I am always needing new ideas
