Menu Plan & Shopping List: Week #1

You asked for it and I delivered. Over the past month you wonderful lovelies have been requesting that I not only share my staple list, but possibly start sharing my weekly menu plans as well. I also had a few request for grocery lists. Well I love all my lovely readers and wanted to make your once a month, weekly, or bi-weekly shopping as easy as can be. So today I introduce you to a new series. Every week I will be sharing with you a week of yummy homemade meals. I will include as many links to recipes as I can. I will also be posting new recipes and tips each week. In every Menu Planning post you will find a printable grocery list and a printable menu plan. Just print and begin your shopping. Easy Peasy right?

Well before I get into the menu plan I just want to remind you of something real quick. I do shop for the month, but I break down my meals into a weekly plan. I have a master list for the month that I pull meals from, but every week I write down all of my meals on my chalkboard vinyl I have on my fridge. This helps my family know what is on the menu for that week. I also can adjust meals depending on what we are doing each day of the week. When you look at the grocery lists, which I will include in each Menu Planning post, always shop your pantry first. Cross the stuff of the list that you already have on hand. Once you have done that, you will be ready to go grocery shopping.

All right I have included my menu plan here in the post, with links, and then again in a printable format. I hope this works out for everyone. This is my first time doing this, so please let me know if there are any errors. I want this to be as user friendly as possible. I have included 6 days of meals, with Sunday being my day for leftovers. On Sundays, when we come home from church, everything leftover from the week is fair game. I heat up our meals and we all enjoy our favorites from the past week. Sometimes I have to add some extra veggies, yogurt, or fruit to round out our leftovers night. I also added two planned desserts for each week. We love our sweets and since we don't buy them at the store, I try to get a little baking in as well. The items for my desserts I usually have on hand in my pantry. I will include them on the shopping list as well.

Most meal recipes do not include a side dish, unless otherwise linked and noted
I am leaving that one up to you :)

Also there is no recipe for chili dogs because it is super simple. I heat up the hotdogs and 1 can of chili, assemble and serve with chips and fruit. Perfect for busy nights when there isn't much time to prepare dinner.

  1. So saving and using this. What a useful idea. I decided to meal plan each week over the summer and we buy on a weekly basis, but i look for stuff which I already have in the store cupboard as a basis for ingredients. I am posting on my blog, but no-where near as organised as this. We don't have a massive freezer - but one day I will shop once a month too. It eats up too much of my Monday evening otherwise!

    Rosie xx

  2. Danielle,
Thank You so much for your incredible talent and what you do. I found your site on Pinterest and am impressed with all you do. My family of 5 (kids 5,3,19 months) need some structure and I know this is one place I need to work on alot. I am looking forward to this adventure of living more domestic and frugal. I am a little overwhelmed, but I just keep telling myself one step at a time, One task at a time. Thank you for taking the time to put this all down for us, so that we can better our lifestyles.
AGAIN, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I am excited to continue following your blog.

  3. I just discovered your blog; someone had Pin'd your "Cut your grocery bill in half" plan. You have inspired me to do what I can to cut our grocery spending, as this is the only bill that we can really control. I am going to refine my spending each week, and then try to get it down to grocery shopping every two weeks. Thanks for your tips and suggestions. I find them to be very helpful as I am working toward cutting my spending so that my husband and I can accomplish our goals.

  4. Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this! As a full time working mom, wife, soccer mom, etc., I really needed something like this! You are great!

  5. Danielle, from one sister to another, I can't tell you much easier you've made life. And my son will thank you.

  6. As i mentioned in my email i love your site! What about a list of things that freeze well? I have my monthly menu plan ready to go. Now just need to shop.
So for freezing i know you freeze milk but what about cream, cottage cheese, cream cheese, and sour cream? Tips and tricks just on freezing would be awesome.

My parents brought us their freezer they dont use so now we have 2 to use! Cant wait to start this new journey!

  7. Thanks for sharing! Your newest follower :)

    1. What wonderful ideas! Thanks for simplifying life for so many of us. I had a quick question. I know you had mentioned in a previous post that you spend approx. $300/month on your groceries. I'm curious if this includes toiletries, paper products, cleaning supplies, etc. or is that just for food items? Thanks!

  8. Thanks so much for this great meal plan! I'm a new linky follower. I’m so glad you linked this up at One Creative Weekend! I love it! I’d love for you to join the party again tomorrow.
