Recently a sweet, dear reader sent me a cookbookshe found at the thirft store. I instantly feel in love with it. It is from the 70's (you know how I have old cookbooks), it is on thrifty cooking, and is full of money saving tips, tricks, and recipes. I can't wait to share everything I have read with you! The first recipe I made was the buttersotch oatmeal. The littles loved it, I love it, it was a crowd pleaser. Don't take my word for it though, make some for your family today :) Enjoy Lovelies!
2 beaten eggs
3 ½ cups milk
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups quick-cooking rolled oats
In a large saucepan combine eggs, milk, and sugar. Cook and stir over medium heat till slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. Stir in rolled oats; cook until mixture begins to bubble, about 3 minutes. Let stand for a few minutes and then serve. We like to serve ours with additional milk. It helps cool it down a bit for the littles.
*Sometimes we like to add raisins as well. Add them in the begining, so they get nice and soft.
