Amazon Love: Books

Lately I have been on a reading kick. I just recently downloaded the Kindle Fire Amazon app for my Android and have been loving it. It was free to download and I have been able to find a lot of books for free or pretty close to it. I figured today I would share a little bit about my Amazon love...specifically the books I've been reading lately.

1. Unexpected Gifts by Elena Aitken

I know it is January and Christmas is over and done with till next year, but I can't get enough of it! Throw in a love story and I'm one happy lady! This story takes place the week before Christmas and was such an easy, fun read. I love it when an author takes a setting and writes multiple books about that place, using different characters. The familiarity of the setting just warms my heart. This book was free and the others in the series are all under $5. Very affordable for us book nerds. I plan to read the rest of Aitkens books soon!

 2. 52 Life-Changing Questions from the Book of Mormon by Brad Wilcox

This is one I actually purchased and is the priciest book of them all. It is under $14, but I will be reading it each week, for the whole year. It is a great book to help with your morning scripture study and is a great testimony builder. It really makes you ponder and reflect. I plan to blog about this book more, soon.

3. Our Favorite Recipes Under 400 Calories

I am a sucker for anything Gooseberry Patch, so when I went onto their blog and saw this recipe book was only 99 cents via Amazon Kindle, I snatched it up. All the recipes looked so good! I can't wait to try them out.

4. Bah, Humbug! by Heather Horrocks

This is a Latter-day Saint romance, so it's perfect for all those Christian Romance fans. I wish it had been a bit longer, but it was super witty. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down though. This is one of those books where I stayed up late reading, since it was so good! Amazon has a bunch of other books by Horrocks for free as well!

5. Circle of Friends 25 One-Pot Dinners

A free Gooseberry Patch cookbook.
Do you I really need to write anymore?
Go get it now :)

6. Your Happily Ever After by Dieter F. Uchtdorf

I love that I can search for "Deseret Book" (latter-day Saint publisher) on the Kindle Store and find tons of church literature for free. So many inspiring books. I love taking a few minutes throughout my day, read a little, and walk away feeling spiritually filled. It's the best!

So that's what I have been reading lately. Most of the books I look for on the Kindle are free or very inexpensive. I'm on a budget, so the books I purchase need to reflect that as well. Have you guys tried out Amazon Kindle Fire? What are you all reading? I love Christian Romance and Historical Romance. Any recommendations?

  2. I am currently reading The Midwife of Hope River - really good. Give it a try. I got it from the library. It is not a Christian or LDS book - but really very uplifting and life-affirming. Thanks for these recommendations! I don't have Smart Phone or Kindle because we are super frugal, but I will look for the paper and ink copies of these books at DI and other thrift stores. Thanks!

  5. I snagged the free ones. When the tax return comes in, I may get the "52 Questions" book. Of course, living in Salt Lake for so many years, I saw "Christmas Street" in one of the book blurbs and immediately thought of that cul-de-sac off of 15th East (?)
