Good morning!
I am unbelievably excited to be here guest posting for the very first time at Blissful and Domestic!!! I'm Kristi, the gal behind making it in the mountains where I blog about all sorts of home decor and DIY projects as I share our journey to make our builder basic home a rustic mountain retreat. I can't even begin to tell you how incredibly honored I was when Danielle asked me to share a project on her fabulous blog! After enjoying what could only be described as THE most CRAZY Summer in my thirty years on this planet, today I'm thrilled to FINALLY be sharing this DIY Dollar Store {HOME} Sign Makeover!

This was seriously one of THE EASIEST projects ever! Here's what I started with:
- HOME sign {fab find for only $2 at the dollar store, but you could totally pick up these letters at any craft store too!}
- pretty scrapbook paper
- acrylic paint {I used a colour called "champagne!"}
- Mod Podge
I started by tracing each of my letters onto the back of my scrapbook paper. Since these letters were meant to stand on a shelf, I thought it would be best to add a pattern onto both sides, but if you plan to hang your letters, you could absolutely get away with just adding pattern to only one side. Because I was adding some pretty paper to both sides of each letter, I also decided to use different papers on each side so that I could easily change things up just by flipping my letter on the shelf!
After tracing them all out (twice), I cut each letter out carefully and set it aside. I then moved on to painting the sides of each of my letters with the "champagne" coloured craft paint. I made sure to wrap the colour around the front and back slightly, so that if my scrapbook paper didn't fit perfectly, the white of the letters wouldn't show through.
The very last step was to add a coat of Mod Podge to the letter fronts. Working with one letter at a time, I painted a thin coat of Mod Podge, carefully placed my patterned paper on top and then added one more coat of Mod Podge on top of the paper to make sure everything was secure and protected.
And here they are - the cutest little {HOUSE} sign ever!
I'm planning to hang mine on a gallery wall in our front entry, but for now they look so happy and cheerful just sitting on our window sill! Isn't this just the sweetest little project and oh so easy to make to boot!
SUCH a {huge} thank you to Danielle for inviting me today!!! I would absolutely LOVE for you to pop by making it in the mountains and check out some of my favorite projects!

And be sure to follow along with me on Instagram or Facebook so you don't miss a thing!
Wishing you all SUCH a lovely week!

Thank you Kendra!!! I love these bargain finds!!!
DeleteI love this idea. I think it would go well in a kid's room as well. Just use their name instead of home.
