Don't Hurry...

Don't Hurry...

This morning, I came upon this read and was immediately struck by the thought of not to hurry and to slow down. This is something that has been on my heart and mind as of late. I want to be a doer, but I also do not want to be some consumed with my to do list that I forget to just be in the moment. As I read the words from this article, I thought about how we truly live on time that the Lord has given us. We do not know when we will be called home to Him, but we do know that the time we do have should be a time to serve Him.

For me it is so easy to get caught up in the busyness and tasks that each day requires, that I take little time to sit in the quiet and just listen. It is easy to forget that if we are so busy, we can be to distracted to here the promptings and guidance our Heavenly Father has for us.

Don't Hurry...

This year I have wanted to take more time to create. For me creating something is a quiet time for me. Whether it is making some delicious for my family or adding little homemade touches to our home, I enjoy that time to just be and create. It is a time to focus on a simple task and allow my heart and mind to wonder...thinking of the things that I have questions, thoughts, or concerns about.

I truly believe that it is in these little moments of quiet that we are truly able to hear the things the Lord has for us.

When we are not distracted by other things things and by other "gods", we can trust in the Lord to help us allocate our time for those things that are most beneficial to us and to our family. He will allow us to use our talents in the very best possible way if we let Him. When we allow Him to do this, that is when we make true progress.

Don't Hurry...

"How easily we fill our lives with “appointments, meetings, and tasks” and then act frightened at the prospect of some quiet time. Why would that be?.....We might “feel that the busier we are, the more important we are—as though our busyness defines our worth......being busy is not necessarily being spiritual”—for in fact, noise and busyness can actually crowd out the still, small voice of the Spirit."

I am striving to take more time to slow down and ponder, so that I may be able to truly feel the love that the Lord has for me. It is a constant struggle to put aside today's to do's for time with Him, but it is something I am working on.

I'm a work in progress....something I remind myself of daily.

  1. so well said.. I too, am trying to make an effort to slow down, and just enjoy the day.. To remind myself, that 'everything' doesn't HAVE to be done that day.. Tomorrow is untouched. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. May God bless you and family.
