How to Make Bread at Home With a Bread Machine -- Video Tutorial...

I have been getting a lot of questions this month about making bread at home. I think since we are all trying to save money wherever we can this month, a lot of you have taken to learning how to make bread at home. I love that!! Not only is making bread at home going to save your family a lot of money, but it is so much better for you! Once you get bread making down, you can them get into adding in other ingredients to up the nutrition factor in your bread. Homemade bread has so many wonderful possibilities!

Today I have a video tutorial for you that I made this week. In this video I will take you through my process of making bread at home, using my bread machine. I have also included my most basic white bread recipe below and in the video description. It is one of my absolute favorites! It comes from The All-New Ultimate Bread Machine Cookbook. This is a cookbook I remember checking out from the library years ago. I loved it so much, I bought it on ebay.

In the original recipe it calls for bread flour, but I use regular white flour instead. If you want, you can always replace wheat flour for the white.

I am so excited for this new journey we are all on together! I have loved hearing how #NOSpenduary is going for everyone! I shared our Frugal Accomplishments from this week earlier this morning. Keep commenting with your accomplishments. I love hearing them! You are all such an inspiration to me!

Now let's get to some bread making and if you try out this recipe, tag me on social media or use the #nospenduary. I love seeing all the amazing things you are doing, creating, and saving. You guys and gals rock!!

-Homey White Bread-

Ingredients:

water 1/2 cup
milk 2/3 cup
butter or oil 4 tsp
salt 1 1/4 tsp
sugar 4 tsp
flour 3 cups
dry yeast 2 1/4 tsp

Place all ingredients in your bread machine. Liquid ingredients should go first, followed by dry and ending with yeast. Select the basic setting or white bread setting and normal to medium crust. Remove loaf at the end of baking cycle and cool on a wire rack. Rub with a bit of butter/margarine after pulling out of the oven.

You can also do this bread on dough cycle. When the dough cycle is done, roll dough into a tight log shape and place in a greased loaf pan. Cover with clear plastic wrap and allow to rise about 20 minutes. If it is cold in your home, you may need to let it rise a bit longer. You want it to be to the top of the pan before baking. Next remove plastic wrap and bake bread at 350' for 30 minutes. When cooking time is done, pull out of the oven and rub with butter/margarine. Remove from pan and allow to cool completely on a wire rack, cutting board, or counter. Enjoy!

  1. I've never finished the bread in the oven, but I will try it now. I love the convenience of the bread machine, but I agree that the shape isn't ideal. Great video!

    1. That's so weird. I haven't heard that anyone else is having a problem. Did you by chance turn the sound off on this video? I've done that before.

  4. Well, now I'm kicking myself because I donated my bread machine to Goodwill, not realizing that I could start the dough in there and finish in the oven. I want to make bread, but I hate the way it bakes in a machine, all square and marred by the paddle. Oh, well, live and learn!
