Last Week's Frugal Accomplishments...

This week's frugal accomplishments are....

Frugal Accomplishments This Week...

I bought four workbooks for the kids to use in school with a gift card I received for Christmas.

I used another gift card we got for Christmas to get a few toys and brush for Mr. Watson the cat. He has been a HUGE ball of energy and we needed some toys to help the kids tire that guy out. Attacking our feet at night was becoming quite tiring :) Oh and encase you didn't know, we got a cat for Christmas. We love him!

We went to the library to check out books and movies...oh and some more books! Haha! We are BIG book nerds in this house!

We made a lot of smoothies at home this week. We have been on a smoothie kick and it is so nice making them at home with stuff with already have in the freezer!

I watched some shows on Netflix and Hulu- my favorite right now has been Selfie and Melissa and Joey.

We made all our meals at home (you can find the recipes HERE) and even made a yummy "dump cake" two times this week from items I had in my pantry (I'll share the recipe soon). It was that good! Have you heard of dump cakes before? My Mom gave me Best Dump Cakes Evercookbook for Christmas and I have been loving trying out all the fun recipes in it.

Hubby and I had a date night at home. We watched Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (borrowed from my parents) and shared some yummy caramel popcorn from Christmas. It was delish!

We dejunked our picture books this week and donated a bunch to Savers this week.

I made some homemade febreeze and all purpose cleaner, using stuff we already had on hand.

I downloaded a free game on my phone. I am currently obsessed with Sim City Build It. Hubby and I have been playing it together.

I did our grocery shopping. This month we spent $160 less than what we normally do. I tried to only buy the basics this month. I ended up buying dairy, produce, and some flour and barley. We will continue getting Bountiful Baskets this month for all of our produce.

Over the weekend I had to run into Wal-Mart to get the last few items on my grocery list. Usually if our budget allows, I will purchase doughnuts as a fun, yummy breakfast for the family to eat Saturday morning....since I am sticking to me #NoSpenduary I resisted the urge and told myself I would make something yummy at home over the weekend for us to enjoy. I ended up making French Toast for the family to enjoy before church on Sunday. It was a nice alternative to the doughnuts and didn't cost anything:)

Our week has been full of some great fun and great savings. We paid bills at home, paid off a debt we had with some of the money we have saved this already this month, and have been able to put a bit in savings as well. I hope you are all having a fabulous #NOSpenduary!

How are you all living frugally this week?

XO Danielle

  1. That's awesome!!! We've been doing #nospenduary at my house too. It's so refreshing to be at home more, and dare I say funny to see what's been in the pantry for so long that. My freezer is even starting to breath a little. It's great. Cant wait to see more of your updates on this challenge. =)

  2. I have been able to pay cash for everything this month!! Which is great considering I had to take two weeks off to recover from my deviated septum surgery! We had a game night at my sister's house and I brought angel food cake for snacking instead of getting pizza. My boyfriend and I had a date night at my house that consisted of binge watching movies for a few hours (this was while I was recovering from surgery) and lots of cuddling on the couch while I tried my best to stay awake. This weekend we are going to a play with tickets my parents gave me for Christmas! I've managed to save a little over a $100 in cash so far and put away an extra $58!

  4. I ran across one of your posts in the frugalliving hashtag on tsu.
I used to do posts just like this weekly on a website called themestream. I kept notes all week. I started my Frugal Friday blog posts like this, but soon steered away.
I love reading posts like this! If you have time, I would love if you would like up all of your frugal posts each week in my Frugal Friday with Marsha linky posts.

  5. We've been able to stick to our no spenduary budget. We've lowered the thermostat (which has resulted in much cuddling up with my honey and the dogs -- an added benefit!). Stuck to our $100 a week budget for food for a family of 4. We've made every meal at home and used up/repurposed leftovers or have frozen them for another meal down the road. We've not spent a single unnecessary penny -- our only unplanned expense was to replace a $9.00 electrical switch in the bathroom that broke (the light was left ON and couldn't be turned off so replacing the switch immediately was a must). We anticipate being able to pay down our debt by almost $1200 this month!

  7. I've been horrible with spending the last couple of days! My middle daughter's birthday party is this Sunday, and even though I'm making most of the stuff everything still keeps adding up! Love the idea of the library... I used to take the kids often and kind of fell out of the habit...need to get it back on our to do list!
